Police searching for two missing women

Oak Ridge police are now searching for two women who have disappeared in Oak Ridge.

Cherry Doll Benson has not been heard from since Dec. 26 and Miriam "Ruth" Hemphill has been missing since July.

Police have no leads on the whereabouts of either woman.

Cherry Doll Benson, 31, walked away from the apartment she shared with a male friend on Latimer Road on Dec. 26 and has not been seen or heard from since.

Her mother, Doris Rowland, in Columbia, would like to know if her daughter is OK.

"I talked to her on Dec. 26 about her coming back to Columbia," she said. "We were on the phone making arrangements."

Police still looking for missing OR woman

Miriam "Ruth" Hemphill has been missing from her Oak Ridge home for two months, and although police have not given up the search, most everything has been done that can be done.
"We've exhausted all leads and are still looking but have no place left to look," said Police Detective Bill Griffith. "There's just nothing else we can do."

Griffith said information about Hemphill and her vehicle, a 1999 Buick LeSabre will remain listed in the National Crime Information Center.

Hemphill, 84, left her home on Kingsley Lane July 22 and her husband, Bill Hemphill, reported her missing later that day. He told police she left in her car, bearing license plate number ABA-676. Police Ask For Help

The Oak Ridge Police Department have followed every lead available in locating Oak Ridge resident Miriam "Ruth" Hemphill but have not located her or her car.
Hemphill, 84, left her Kingsley Lane home in her car July 22 and has not been seen since. Police are still asking for the public's help in finding her or her car.

Hemphill left her home early on the morning of July 22 in her light tan-colored 1999 Buick LeSabre. The Tennessee license plate number for the car is ABA-676.
Bill Hemphill called the Police Department shortly after 6:30 p.m. July 22 and reported his wife as missing. He had not seen her since she left the house early that morning.

Hemphill told police his wife left a note about their daughter's death. Connie Hemphill Spapik died in Ohio in late March.

Authorities searching for missing OR woman, 84
OAK RIDGE - Authorities on Friday continued to search for clues to the whereabouts of an elderly Oak Ridge woman who vanished two weeks earlier.

"We're looking for any help we can get,'' Capt. Rick Stone said of the disappearance of 84-year-old Miriam Ruth Hemphill.

She left her Kingsley Road residence July 22 in a bronze 1999 Buick LeSabre, license plate number ABA-676, and hasn't been seen since, Stone said.

Her husband, William Hemphill, reported her disappearance. Stone said the woman left a note to her husband alluding to the recent death of their daughter.

Anyone with information about the missing woman is asked to call the Oak Ridge Police Department at 865-425-4399.

Oak Ridge woman missing



The Oak Ridge Police Department needs help from the public in locating a missing resident.
Mirum "Ruth" Hemphill, 84, left her residence Friday in a bronze-colored 1999 Buick LeSabre.

Bill Hemphill, 101 Kingsley Lane, called the Police Department shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday and reported his wife as missing. He had not seen her since she left the house early Friday morning.
