Graves case sent to grand jury following hearing

MAYFIELD, Ky. -- A woman who is charged with stabbing her 12-yearold son in a cemetery remained in jail Wednesday after a judge refused to lower her bond.

Graves District Judge Royce Buck also ruled that there was enough evidence to send a charge of attempted murder against Pamela Bailey to a county grand jury.

The panel is scheduled to meet May 20.

Bailey has pleaded innocent.

(4/23/02 - MAYFIELD, Ky.) — A woman who once said she accidentally killed her daughter and then recanted has been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of her 12-year-old son in a rural cemetery.
Pamela Lynn Bailey took the boy to the cemetery near Mayfield late Monday, but the boy ran away and fled to a nearby house, state police Trooper Barry Meadows said.

"He told detectives that his mother had taken him to a cemetery and stabbed him," Meadows said.

Bailey, 37, of Mayfield, was arrested Tuesday at a gas station in Nortonville, about 70 miles from Mayfield in western Kentucky, Meadows said. He said no weapon was found.

Mother charged in stabbing of 12-year-old son

MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP) -- A woman who once said she accidentally killed her daughter and then recanted has been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of her 12-year-old son in a rural cemetery.

Pamela Lynn Bailey, 37, of Mayfield, has been charged with attempted murder and was being held at the Graves County Detention Center. Bailey is accused of taking her son to a cemetery in a sparsely populated area of Graves County on Monday and stabbing him three times, said Tim Fortner, Mayfield assistant police chief.

The boy was released from the Jackson Purchase Medical Center on Tuesday and is with his father, Johnny Bailey, Fortner said.

Circumstances: Childress disappeared while playing in the front yard of her Union City, Tennessee home on April 16, 1987. She was last seen wearing light purple pants, a purple and white top and pink "Jelly" shoes.
When Childress disappeared, hundreds of people volunteered to search for her. Several weeks later, the search halted abruptly when her mother, Pamela Bailey, confessed to accidentally killing her daughter. She told police she threw the body into the Obion River, but no body was found, and Bailey later recanted the confession.
In April of 2002, Bailey was charged with stabbing her 12-year-old son in a cemetery. She has pleaded innocent.
